This is a copy of the surrender document signed in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri on September 2 1945.  At that time I was serving in HMAS Shropshire, and we were present in Tokyo Bay, as part of the occupation force in Japan.  For more information on the surrender, click here.

THE END OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR

Instrument of Surrender

This document was signed on board USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay at 0904 on the 2nd. of September 1945. After 1364 days, 5 hours and 14 minutes World War 11, Pacific, ended officially with the signing of this Instrument of Surrender.
